Bridesmaid Style: Aisle Say, What a Great Idea!

A couple of months ago, a close friend of mine asked me to be her maid of honor and I gladly accepted, though I knew I’d have a big task ahead of me. As an excited nuptial newbie, I didn’t waste any time and started doing some research with the bridal party. Who knew this part could be so much fun? As I was flipping through different bridal magazines and browsing through different wedding websites, I found a long list of impressive ideas that I never would have thought of on my own. Knot.com was one of the sites I landed on, which showcased a wedding with bridesmaids holding fans during the hot summer season! The bride here decided to ditch the flower bouquets for something less expensive but still stylish, and I thought it was genius.

Many of you are either married or single and on the lookout and may not be a bride this summer, but you can use these tips to help someone you know spark some good ideas:) Fans can be a tad dull in color, but you can play it up by embellishing them or—my favorite way—by adding colorful pops of jewelry to your fingers and wrists! (See below). For bright flower bouquets that already make a big statement, instead of playing up the fingers and wrists, try accessorizing the neck and ears to balance the whole look. icon smileBridesmaid Style: Aisle Say, What a Great Idea!

1920s Themed Wedding

What’s your favorite part about weddings? It’s the moment of truth, when the couple’s personalities come out—the colors, dress style, tuxes, socks and ties, and the accessories that are chosen all say something about the bride and groom. Being a witness to that—is my favorite part of weddings.

As always, I’m constantly searching and browsing for great websites, blogs and finds and here’s one that I’ve been a fan of for the past year! GreenWeddingShoes.com is an inspiring blog that features gorgeous photos of weddings, most of which are vintage-inspired. The site is a great idea sparker for brides.

The guys are wearing peacock pins with their purple and green neckties, adding a creative flare to their outfits!

Choosing a wedding theme based on the vintage past is a charming idea. Would you do/have done a 1920s themed wedding?

Winter Weddings Have Arrived!

On Sunday and Monday night, Lifetime Television premiered Marry Me, a two-part movie featuring Lucy Liu who is struggling to choose among three men–ex’s and a new guy, who all want to marry her (let the drama begin!).

This got me thinking about winter weddings. Most women get married in the summer, but there’s something about a winter wedding that gives it a special charm–maybe it’s the association with white snow, icicles and frost that are reminiscent of diamonds and all things sparkly. Winter is cold, so that means accessorizing with a furry wedding wrap over the dress. I found this beautiful wrap on TheGloss.com that adds a nice December touch! Pair it with the necklace below and the bride is set for the big day!

New Bridal Site and Bridesmaid Jewelry Ideas

I just came back from a wedding a couple weekends ago in Melbourne, Florida, and it was stunning!–the breezy ocean view backdrop, a gorgeous bride and a coterie of beautiful bridesmaids in dark satin brown created the perfect atmosphere. I can say, ’tis the season for marriage and engagements… Many of my friends either just got married or are in the planning process and I love helping them think of color themes and ideas, including helping them find the perfect jewelry to wear with their outfits! I’ve seen a lot of bridesmaids skip the jewelry, but it can add a sophisticated accent to the wedding without stealing the bride’s thunder. And, I’m happy to announce that we just launched our new bridal jewelry site, 1928Bridal.com, dedicated just for weddings! The navigation is  quite simple, categorized by brides, bridesmaids and mothers of the bride and groom (a section not many other sites feature icon winkNew Bridal Site and Bridesmaid Jewelry Ideas ).

Since the theme, color and style depends a lot on the personality of the bride, if you’re a bride, first pick a style that reflects your character and then it should be easier to make decisions for your bridesmaids. Do you want to exude a style that is fun, earthy, classy or elegant?

  • Fun = flowers, bows, unique shapes
  • Earthy = nature objects like leaf or shell pendants or vine jewelry
  • Classy = sparkling crystals
  • Simple & Elegant = pearls
  • Romantic = hearts

Jewelry pieces make great gifts for bridesmaids since they can wear it on the BIG day, as well as any other time! For more selections, check out 1928Bridal.com.

Jen’s Journal: Wedding Fun and Vintage Beauty in Vegas

Hi Dolls!

Did everyone have a fab weekend?  I was loving Tina Fey hosting SNL!  What a ratings boost – and about time!  Has anyone seen “Date Night?!”  Such a funny premise, I giggle just thinking of it! And my beloved Marky Mark’s in it!  I have to admit – I did record “Oprah” when they were on promoting the film, so makes me laugh when Oprah announces each guest “Steve Caaarreeellll!” (pronounced “Cuuuhhreeeeeheelll!”)  LOL  Such an elongator!

So, Griffy and I are off to a wedding at the Paris in Viva Las Vegas this weekend.  Too grand for words!  I cannot wait!  We styled the bride and wedding party in, yes gals – but of course – 1928!  The bride is wearing 1928’s Bridal Crystal Fancy Drop Necklace with the Tzarina Crystal Hexagon Button Earrings and her Bridal Party are wearing the uber cute Flora Jet Black & Silver Pansy Stud Earrings with the GORGE Jet Jet Filigree Stretch Bracelets which, by the way, our young Griffin will be sporting as the most fetching collar ever!  Won’t HE be dashing?!  What a STUNNING wedding this will be!  Yes, dear readers – even the very youngest in the wedding party – Avery Jay – will be FABULOUS – walking down the aisle (wearing a 1928 Art Deco Crystal Floral Antique Silver Bracelet!) against the Nevada skyline.  I sigh.
