Whitney Port is an actress, model and fashion designer and is best known for her show on the MTV reality series The Hills. Here, she’s fashioning beautiful diamond-clad chain drop earrings with her glammed-up look. We loved the style concept and found a pair similar to hers minus the diamonds and minus the high price with these Silver Dangle Chain Earrings pictured below. The other day on Facebook, we asked you what your favorite jewelry color to wear was and many of you said–silver! Silver is a versatile color and can be worn with almost anything.

1928 Silver Dangle Chain Earrings
These dangling earrings have a swirly post design and are fun to wear with the movement it creates. Best of all, it can be dressed up or down. For a more casual look, wear them with jeans, a white shirt and flats. To step it up a notch like Whitney Port did, wear them with a blouse and skirt or dress along with some pumps or stilettos. And voilà, you’ve got yourself a winning outfit!

InStyle‘s must-have summer accessories for 2010 features Kate Hudson’s sunglasses, but my eyes were instantly glued to her earrings! She’s definitely got the summer trend down with turquoise (fashion color of the year) Moroccan-style earrings, a big-brim sun hat and some nice black shades. Kate Hudson’s known for her Bohemian style which goes perfectly well with her free-spirited personality. In this photo of her, it’s the earrings that give her style that Bohemian kick.

1928's Marrakesh Turquoise Blue Medallion Earrings
And like I always blog about in our fab find posts, yes, we’ve got a similar piece! Kate’s earrings looks like it totally belongs in our Marrakesh Collection. These attractive Moroccan medallion earrings feature heavily antiqued brass accompanied by a soft turquoise blue enameling at the center. And it’s got that exotic tribal appeal that will probably get you stares or compliments from strangers (like I’ve been getting)!

Have any of you ever taken several pieces of necklaces and tried layering them on top of each other? I do it all the time! It gives an outfit a cool, edgy, fun and sophisticated appeal. Just like the stacked bracelet trend I wrote about last week, it works the same way! No need to be too matchy-matchy here, because it’s an art. If you’ve got that creative flair, don’t be afraid to experiment because practice makes perfect. As far as celebrities go, the Olsen twins just popped into my head–though I think they overdo it at times, don’t you think? In the above photo, Sarah Jessica Parker makes a really BOLD statement with her screaming necklaces, whereas Blake Lively’s layering is more light and airy. Check out PerfectBound.blogspot.com for a more detailed post.
So how do you layer necklaces, you ask?
There are no absolute rules to this mish-mash style, but it’s good to choose pieces with graduating lengths. A lot of it is contrasting textures: pearls and pendant necklaces, chains (figaro, scalloped, twisted rope, double cable) and beads, and many more possibilities. Multi-layering necklaces works best with solid color outfits. If there are too many patterns and graphics, it can get too chaotic with no focal point to the outfit. Think of the layered piece of jewelry as a centerpiece. For inspiration, take a peek at our Polyvore set featuring several of our individual necklaces stacked on top of each other!

Something about electric blue and lemon yellow look strikingly good together. It’s just refreshing from the all-so-prevalent black (though I still love black and its versatility). I was scouring the web and all the fashion magazines this week and ended up on PeopleStyleWatch.com. Check out model Hilary Rhoda’s wardrobe ensemble. If her name doesn’t ring a bell, you might have seen her as the face of Esteé Lauder, in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issues, Vogue, GQ or from previous ads for different fashion brands. Forbes listed her as one of the world’s top-earning supermodels in 2007–and that was when she was 20.
I love the pop of color she adds to her outfit. Instead of wearing silver or gold jewelry, she decides to wear a sapphire drop necklace. And guess what? I found a very similar one at 1928! Lookie here:

I think it’s the perfect piece of jewelry for the summer. Glimmering like the sun drenched ocean, this silver hued Destiny Sparkling Estate Necklace features gorgeous sapphire blue teardrops spaced out by petite sapphire crystals. We also have matching earrings, in case you were wondering:) Just remember not to overdo the color and if you’re not sure, ask a friend.
Have an awesome weekend!

Another Friday, another fab find! Did you ladies get the July W Magazine this month? Aside from the numerous pages of designer garb, the beautiful Eva Mendes is on the cover. She’s sporting a retro ’50s inspired look and pulled it off quite well, if I say so myself. Eva is a classic beauty who doesn’t require a ton of makeup, but for this photo shoot the makeup was very dramatic and she carried the look of a retro vixen. One thing I noticed was the use of minimal jewelry to style her outfit.
Usually these photo shoots have celebrities draped in jewelry. The only piece of jewelry Eva wore in the pictures was a pair of Harry Winston diamond and pearl earrings. We hear his name pop up on red carpets when celebrities are asked about their jaw-dropping diamond bracelets or earrings. When you fall in love with a 5-carat diamond piece, you better expect a 5-carat price! For those of us who can’t afford to spend thousands of dollars on jewelry, it’s not a practical option.

1928 Crystal Pearl Button Earrings
I love anything pearl, especially pearls used in earring form so I took it upon myself to find a more affordable piece that’s still stylish and chic like the Harry Winston piece. I settled on Her Majesties Crystal Pearl Button Earrings by 1928 and think they’re the perfect alternative. These button earrings are a breathtaking array of crystals and a faux pearl in a classic vintage earring set. The gold frame is adorned with tiny glass crystals that add shine. They also have the same ’50s flair that was used for Eva’s shoot. The earrings are both vintage and antique-inspired and will never go out of style. The perfect piece for every woman whether young or old.

While I was flipping through the celebrity shopping list on LuckyMag.com, I couldn’t decide if I should do a post on Taylor Swift or Olivia Wilde. Both have such different styles so I decided on both!

Photo: LuckyMag.com/Film Magic
Taylor Swift has proven to be such a class act. Her signature glittery dresses and boho street style delivers a sweet and graceful look. We love that she dresses appropriately for her age and has a youthful playfulness to her. Recently there was a picture of Taylor out and about where she had on a simple white T-shirt cinched at the waist with a thin belt and a coordinating purple layered skirt–the perfect outfit for an afternoon out. To accessorize, she put on a bedazzling headband and a simple gold heart pendant necklace, which immediately caught my eye. As I was flipping through the 1928 style book, guess what? We had a necklace that looked similar to it, except in a larger pocket-watch size! Here it is: 1928′s Dignity Large Gold Locket Necklace. It’s the perfect necklace to pair with jeans and white tees or with a cute summer dress. The antiqued gold tone and floral engraved locket hangs from double gold strand chains and definitely looks vintage. For $48, it’s a sure steal and it even makes a perfect personalized gift once you put a picture inside!

1928 Dignity Heart Locket Necklace
Olivia Wilde is best known for her role on House playing a young doctor nicknamed Thirteen. Aside from being ranked #1 on Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 List in 2009, she’s quite a lovely girl and always manages to impress with her effortless style. The KARA ACKERMAN FAN earrings that Olivia wore out to a recent event are perfect for summer.

Photo: LuckyMag.com/Getty
They’re bright and shiny, and an easy way to accessorize. As fan earrings, they spread out pretty wide which might be a bit difficult to pull off for everyday wear. The Divine Drops Golden Hues Fan Earrings are the perfect alternative. They still fan out but they’re a little smaller in size which makes it more practical for everyday gals like us. Gold and ivory hues are combined to create a chic and stunning design and the fan-shape pattern is set with lovely hand-enameled accents. The earrings are perfect for pierced or non-pierced ears since they’re clip-ons. But don’t worry, the clip is cleverly disguised to look like an ordinary embellishment.

And remember, if you’re wearing bold and flashy earrings, choose a simpler necklace and vice versa. You don’t want too much going on in your outfit, which can look sloppy and unkempt. Pull fashion tips from your favorite magazines and celebs, but remember to create a style to fit your personality. Just think what a bore life would be if we all had the same style. Yikes!
Oh, and one more thing! Don’t miss your chance of winning a $250 shopping spree at 1928.com with our free Summer Celebration Giveaway. You can enter once a day until July 4th!

It’s Friday and that can only mean two things: The weekend and FAB FIND FRIDAY! I’m attending a friend’s birthday bash this week and I’m stoked! For me, parties are all about the 3 F’s: Friends, Food and Fashion! What could be better than catching up with old friends and enjoying good food and drinks (let’s hope)? Also, parties give us an excuse to get all glammed up like some of our favorite celebs. This week’s find is on celebrity inspired jewelry featuring a beautiful bracelet–designer jewelry without the huge price!

Bangle bracelets and cuffs are so in right now! It’s so easy to slip on a bracelet and completely revamp your look. They are tres chic and oh-so-easy to sport with any outfit. As fabulous as they are, I have one issue with bangles and cuffs and that has to do with size. Usually cuffs and bracelets are huge for my little wrist. Bangles are supposed to hang loosely on your wrist, not slip down to your knuckles and hang on for dear life. If you’re like me, someone with tiny wrists or someone who doesn’t necessarily enjoy a big bulky bracelet, you’re in luck!
I was flipping through this month’s Instyle with Salma Hayek Pinault on the cover. Did you know that her husband is the chairman of PPR? That, readers, is the company that owns luxury fashion brands such as, Stella McCartney, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and other amazing fashion lines. I would die for a husband that came home every night with Gucci bags and Yves St. Laurent silk scarves. Anyway, I was flipping through the mag and I noticed they had done a piece on slender eye-catching bracelets. I thought to myself, the fashion gods have answered my prayers! They’ve made bracelets for people who have tiny wrists like me. I immediately fell in love with one particular diamond bracelet and thought to myself that I NEED to have this bracelet. This fantasy came to a screeching halt when I got a glimpse of the price. $7,430 dollars, yikes! The bracelet featured in the spread is 18k white gold with diamonds and it’s from jewelry designer Penny Preville. She makes beautiful pieces that can be found at Neiman Marcus. Celebrities like Sandra Bullock and Heidi Klum wear her pieces. It’s easy for someone like Heidi Klum to drop $7,000 on a bracelet but what about us? You know, the girls without the six figure salaries. I decided I was going to go on the hunt to find a similar piece that is still fab but with less 0’s!

1928 Art Deco Crystal Floral Motif Bracelet
I’m sure you guys know by now that 1928 has tons of pieces. Between the earrings and the necklaces, it’s hard to keep track. I have to admit that some pieces stand out more than the others and they become unforgettable. That’s the case with the Art Deco Crystal Floral Motif Bracelet. I love this bracelet! When I saw the Penny Preville bracelet I thought of our bracelet. They both have the round circular middle that sits on top of the wrist with adorned precious gems and more importantly, both have thin bands that can easily fit anybody’s wrist. The Preville design retails for $7,000 while our piece is only $24. Both bracelets ooze glamour, but our glamour fits in with everyone’s budget! Wear the bracelet in the daytime with jeans and blouse tops or in the evening with your cocktail dress. It’s versatile, timeless and great for any budget! Of course with our piece you don’t get the shiny diamonds but you get shiny crystals, and anything that sparkles is good enough for me!

Yesterday was Glee’s season finale! Did any of you get to watch? The musical numbers were nothing short of great, as always, but I did want to see more of our dear germaphobic guidance counselor Emma Pillsbury, who only had two short scenes with her classic bug-eyed stare. (Don’t worry, I won’t give any spoilers for those who didn’t watch.) She definitely gives the show a lot more flavor. The blogosphere can’t get enough of her fashionable wardrobe, and we can’t either! Yesterday, Emma was was wearing her classic cardigan sweater but in a coral color with little black ribbon prints, worn over a white blouse. You know a true character is created when you go to the store and find a piece for which you can say, “that’s so Emma!”
What we know: she’s an impeccable dresser with a retro flair, her outfits are always crisp, ironed, prim and proper. She loves to wear cardigans, pencil skirts, blouses with bows or ruffles, pastels and brights, flowers…and we can’t forget about her jewelry that includes an amazing selection of brooches and statement necklaces! We suspect she likes to shop at J.Crew, Anthropologie and Banana Republic.
I think she’d also love to shop at 1928;) What do you think? Check out our Polyvore set that features Emma Pillsbury inspired jewelry!

The countdown is FINALLY over! Monday night was the movie premier of Sex and the City 2, which means it’s almost in theaters–tomorrow! Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend the Premier that Radio City Music Hall hosted in New York, but I hear the fashion in the movie was a bit of a letdown as Archana Ram reported on Entertainment Weekly. But I’ll have to see it for myself;)
At the premiere, Sarah Jessica Parker was still the star player with her flowing, lemony vintage Valentino dress that seemed to twirl around her body every time she moved. Kristen Davis, Cynthia Nixon and Kim Cattrall also looked smokin’ though they each should’ve decorated their bare neckline with a glittering necklace.

For Kristen

For Kim

For Cynthia
Btw, Sex and the City 2 is not the only movie I’m counting down! If you didn’t already know, the new Twilight sequel (Eclipse) is slated for June 30th! *Ahem, can anyone get me into that premiere?
