This year, fall fashion runs the gamut in colors and themes as seen in New York Fashion Week—which only means you have more wardrobe choices!
On the runway, Alice & Olivia decides to go young and chic. I love the mini boater hat pinned to her curly, braided and side-swept locks with a simple chain pendant necklace and bracelet.
Ralph Lauren this season chooses a bohemian style, an unexpected break from his usual solid color designs. Along with the floral blouse, the model wears an extra-long beaded necklace with pops of red, along with a beanie and a small fringe bag.
Marc Jacobs keeps the hide-and-seek ruffled gray dress simple with a skinny belt cinched at the waist and no further accessories.
Michael Kors goes camel crazy this season. The pictured model has a free-spirited glam look with gold stacked bangles, camel suede boots and bedhead hair.

Peacock Feather Brooch Pin
Though the season’s runway was a mix, there were a lot of neutrals, camel tones, amber and military greens—very fall appropriate. Our new fall jewelry collection, which debuted in New York Market back in May, takes those trends and gives them a glamorous vintage twist with peacock colors. It sways more into the Bohemian style, especially the peacock pin above, which is a must-have for me this season! I asked our 2028 jewelry designer, Sheva, about the collection. She wanted to play with a colorful fall scheme and mix it with a youthful edge by adding lots of key charms. The necklace below features a rose key, a mini Eiffel Tower, a vintage puffer perfume bottle and a multi-chain tassel, all dangling from a round star pendant. They’re all (and much more) expected to be in our online store in September…Be on the lookout!

1928 Dragonfly Brooch on a necklace chain
Have you tried wearing a brooch as a necklace? On your bag? In multiples on your jacket or blazer? On your summer scarf or headband? Oh, let me count the ways! There are so many creative ways you can wear pins and brooches. Just let your imaginations go wild and see what comes of it (and let us know if you think of something crazy and cool!). Lucky Magazine’s July issue features a spread with a model wearing a satin jacket with multiple brooches on each side. I must say, it looks creative, funky and stylish. For those of you who can’t or don’t want to pull that off, take a favorite brooch and let it hang from a necklace chain like we did (see pic). We took our sparkling red Dragonfly Brooch and turned it into a modern vintage piece of jewelry. If you decide to do this, make sure the brooch isn’t too large since it might not support the chain.

Lucky Magazine spread: Model wearing multiple brooches
There are a lot of brooches you can choose from at 1928. (Click on the “More Jewelry” navigation tab or click here to see a wide variety of selections). Some of our favorites include our Pink Flower & Green Leaf Pin embedded with Swarovski crystals and our Vintage Leaf Brooch embedded with tiny peridot and olivine green crystals in a gold-tone setting (both pictured below).

Just about a month ago, we commented on Hilary Swank wearing a beautiful brooch as a headpiece. You can do the same by attaching an old brooch or pin to a headscarf or headband. Now that’s a cute take on new uses for old things! It’s a great idea for the summer if you don’t want to spend money on buying new accessories. It keeps your hair back and makes you look fresh and fab at the same time. You know what I’ll be wearing.
And don’t forget to submit a photo of your jewelry collection to jenb.1928[at]gmail.com (only a week left!) for a chance to win a pair of free earrings. (See previous How to Organize Your Jewelry post for more info). If you have any questions, leave a comment on our blog!

How high can you go? I’m talking about them stacked bracelets! I see women wearing them everywhere and I just ADORE the style. It adds total edge to an outfit. And now that it’s summer, it’s easier to flaunt since our arms will be bare with short sleeves or no sleeves. I ran across a post on FashionToast.com, which is a blog I’m an absolute fan of. The blown up, artsy fashion photos do it for me. The Wooster St. post features her wearing a black vintage dress with stacked silver bangles. I’d sum it up as indie rocker-chick glamor.
The girls at 1928 also stack our bracelet jewelry and we don’t hold back:) (Yup, you know where most of our paycheck goes.) 1928 has been around since 1968, but the unique thing about us is that we modernize old vintage styles or “vintagize” modern styles to fit current fashion trends.
Click on the Polyvore set below to see each individual bracelet and its details. Most of the bracelets and bangles here match in some way, but it doesn’t mean you need to. Sometimes I like to take chunky charm bracelets and mix it up with thin bangles and I have so much fun sporting it. Fashion should be about having fun, expressing yourself. Choose what makes you feel good. Choose what makes you be you. Choose what makes you confident.
Do you stack your bracelets? We’d love to hear how you do it!

While I was flipping through the celebrity shopping list on LuckyMag.com, I couldn’t decide if I should do a post on Taylor Swift or Olivia Wilde. Both have such different styles so I decided on both!

Photo: LuckyMag.com/Film Magic
Taylor Swift has proven to be such a class act. Her signature glittery dresses and boho street style delivers a sweet and graceful look. We love that she dresses appropriately for her age and has a youthful playfulness to her. Recently there was a picture of Taylor out and about where she had on a simple white T-shirt cinched at the waist with a thin belt and a coordinating purple layered skirt–the perfect outfit for an afternoon out. To accessorize, she put on a bedazzling headband and a simple gold heart pendant necklace, which immediately caught my eye. As I was flipping through the 1928 style book, guess what? We had a necklace that looked similar to it, except in a larger pocket-watch size! Here it is: 1928′s Dignity Large Gold Locket Necklace. It’s the perfect necklace to pair with jeans and white tees or with a cute summer dress. The antiqued gold tone and floral engraved locket hangs from double gold strand chains and definitely looks vintage. For $48, it’s a sure steal and it even makes a perfect personalized gift once you put a picture inside!

Olivia Wilde is best known for her role on House playing a young doctor nicknamed Thirteen. Aside from being ranked #1 on Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 List in 2009, she’s quite a lovely girl and always manages to impress with her effortless style. The KARA ACKERMAN FAN earrings that Olivia wore out to a recent event are perfect for summer.

Photo: LuckyMag.com/Getty
They’re bright and shiny, and an easy way to accessorize. As fan earrings, they spread out pretty wide which might be a bit difficult to pull off for everyday wear. The Divine Drops Golden Hues Fan Earrings are the perfect alternative. They still fan out but they’re a little smaller in size which makes it more practical for everyday gals like us. Gold and ivory hues are combined to create a chic and stunning design and the fan-shape pattern is set with lovely hand-enameled accents. The earrings are perfect for pierced or non-pierced ears since they’re clip-ons. But don’t worry, the clip is cleverly disguised to look like an ordinary embellishment.

And remember, if you’re wearing bold and flashy earrings, choose a simpler necklace and vice versa. You don’t want too much going on in your outfit, which can look sloppy and unkempt. Pull fashion tips from your favorite magazines and celebs, but remember to create a style to fit your personality. Just think what a bore life would be if we all had the same style. Yikes!
Oh, and one more thing! Don’t miss your chance of winning a $250 shopping spree at 1928.com with our free Summer Celebration Giveaway. You can enter once a day until July 4th!

I think it’s time to reveal our most popular, 10 bestselling jewelry of the year since January! Wow… are we already halfway through 2010?
I don’t know about you, but I love snooping around in the streets, shops, cafes and restaurants to see who’s buying what and who’s wearing what. Sometimes I do a double take because an outfit is TOO outrageous or SO á la mode that I can’t stop staring! Do you get those moments? It’s these times that I hanker for an LA that’s more of a walking culture–fewer cars and more feet! But I’m digressing…
Our #1 bestselling jewelry is the 1960s Vintage Pen Necklace. If you recall, we ran a contest last year on who could wear the pen necklace best as Joan Holloway. We were a bit surprised to find it ranking first since the last episode ran back in November 2009. But with a pending new season, the buzz will not be over anytime soon! And we’re mad about it too! Be on the lookout for July 25: Mad Men Season 4. (By the way, for those of you who already own a pen necklace, we have refills for only a $1!)

Oh my Godfather – Gwennie’s on the cover of the April InStyle and 1928 is inside! To die!

I LOVE! Annnnnnnd – the Queen of Vintage has a spread – that’s right Rachel “I dream in Jewelry” (who doesn’t?!) Zoe has a fab four pages. I am sighing and drooling as I write. The most amazing thing – you can hop on www.1928.com and STEAL so many look-a-likes from this very article!
Let’s see – there’s the long pearl/Trinity gold cross looking pendant she’s wearing on pg. 138, 1928’s version would be the Antique Black Bow-Tie Necklace, or her diamond and pearl flower ring – the 1928 Antique Pearl and Crystal Flower Stud Earrings are PERFECT and all you crafty types could just pop over to Michael’s and make a ring for yourself and one of your friends in no time! Viola!
The GINORMOUS hoops Rachel’s rockin’ are certainly a rather large take-off of the 1928 Luxembourg Embellished Olive Green Hoop Earrings! Can you say Happy St. Patty’s Day to your ears?!

2028 Jewelry Featured in "trend n tips" in the April 2010 InStyle
Now, thumb through to pg. 317 to the “tipsntrends.com” page – middle right – yes dear friends – those two rings are 2028, an exclusive collection available only at Macy’s! Now, being the arachnophobe I am – I would never DREAM of wearing bugs on my fingers, howevs I simply die for this superfly Dragonfly! And the locket ring reminds me of my beloved Nana Banana’s locket that she wore crossing the ocean from Wales to this country as a child. Is it not GORGE?! I’m running (in my pink Reebok Easytones!) to my local Macy’s. And never fear ring lovers – if it’s not in stock yet, be patient. You know how these pubs work. They release weeks in advance – keep running back, it will be there soon and you will be so pleased that you persevered!
Ciao for now! ;)

Hi gals – and how was everyone’s Oscar Sunday?! Was the carpet not fabulous?! So much to say, where to begin – how about with Zoe Saldana’s Boysenberry piñata dress? She looked like a fancy feather duster! Offset that bottom heavy hitter with the 1928 Morado Amor Flower necklace next time girl!

Courtesy Getty Images
Gabourey Sidibe looked AMAZING, just one little thing missing; a 1928 Midnight Blues Fantasy Floral Necklace! All JLO needed with her amazing dress was the 1928 Bridal Art Deco Revival Eternity Necklace!
Blue and white/nude/blush were the popular color palettes of the evening. Avatar Shmavatar! Kathryn won – awesome – and how fab would the 1928 Art Deco Revival Eternity Brooch be on her little satin clutch?! Magnifique!
Let’s talk about the guys. Yawn. George, I love you but you always look the same. Taylor Lautner – not sure what you were even doing there but you have looked the same this entire Awards Season! How about one of the 1928 Crimson Gardens Leafy Drop earrings tucked into the top of your bowtie? Pinned to your pocket which was missing a pocket square…
As I journaled last week, my Griffy was the best dressed boy in his Fabulous Filigree Burnished Copper Tone Bracelet. If only he could have strolled the red carpet, what a sight he would make! “Papa – Paparazzi!”
I’m thrilled the big blue behemoth didn’t take Best Picture. Too commercial, too stop-motion, acting my beloved audience is what earns you an Oscar. Look at Mo’Nique, not the hair – the actor – now that was an Oscar-worthy performance! However, in place of that garden growing out of her head – a nice 1928 Silver Tone Filigree Blue Butterfly Barrette would be a beautiful touch – just a thought.
Loved, loved, loved Steve and Alec - they looked handsome and were hilarious. Just the right note to the looooooong evening (thank you Tom Hanks for abruptly ending the madness!) and don’t get me started on Doogie Houser opening the show. He didn’t need anything! Can you say “sequin explosion?!” Someone owns a bedazzler!

I am so excited to learn that we at 1928 are currently featured in the January 2010 issue of Pregnancy and Newborn magazine in an article entitled: “Noteworthy Maternity Style.”

1928 in Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine
I have two friends who are expecting and I suddenly feel suddenly have the urge to buy in two’s.

The earrings featured are our Midnight Garden Oval Lever Back Earrings style 29675
As P&N states, “these earrings are perfect for good looks & retail therapy”. Though they pair them up to a “dinner with the girls” outfit, I also think they are a perfect day to evening pair.
