I have two friends who are expecting and I suddenly feel suddenly have the urge to buy in two’s.

As P&N states, “these earrings are perfect for good looks & retail therapy”. Though they pair them up to a “dinner with the girls” outfit, I also think they are a perfect day to evening pair.

November 24th, 2009 § 0

Did you get a chance to see the vampire-inspired film “New Moon” yet?! It’s been a hit not only with the younger crowd but the mature crowd as well! Vampire fashion is nothing new to us, last April we teamed up with HBO to have a variety of 1928 Jewelry pieces featured on Season 2 of the hit vampire show “True Blood”. There’s something about vintage jewelry that makes a vampire look as chic as ever! Below, are the 1928 pieces some of the cast wore in Season 2.

Jewels of Passion

June 25th, 2009 § 1

For over 40 years, 1928 Jewelry, has created stunning reproductions of vintage costume jewelry. Some of our designs are born from the creative minds or our design team but many collections have been inspired from ornate, sometimes over the top costume jewelry pieces created in the mid-2oth century.

When researching a piece I found at the Fairfax Flea Market this past weekend, I stumbled upon Sherri Duncan’s website.

I’d never heard of Ms. Duncan before a serious, in-depth Google search. But thanks to good old Google – low and behold, she was there! The costume jewelry expert of my dreams! This woman had serious taste in costume jewelry, from Hobe to Dior, Miriam Haskell to Chanel, she had it! It was honestly the Haskell piece that made me love her.

Duncan has written an amazing coffee table book about her costume jewelry collection called Jewels of Passion. The hardcover, glossy page book features 175 pages of beautiful vintage to antique costume jewelry collections. For anyone who loves costume, or just loves jewelry in general, it’s a must own. And yes, you can get it through Amazon, what iconic fashion book isn’t?

To learn more about Sherri, you can visit her jewelry site, she even has a few of the pieces for sale!

Multifaceted Bliss

June 10th, 2009 § 3

This summer is about bright, big and bold. We’re on a total 1980s throw back. Big sunglasses, maxi dresses and alt denim. Like wise, accessories are thing to make a statement with this summer, not the clothing.

So we’re debuting a collections with two sides – what we’re calling dramatic day to night.  A limited edition collection, Multifaceted Gems, features bold, statement style necklaces and earrings. We’ve been waiting patiently for this these beauties to make their debut; The chandelier and multi-colored bib are our favorites.

Shimmerings Hues of Silver & Wine Country Adventures

June 7th, 2009 § 1

Last year, I discovered a small intimate wine vineyard called Silverado.  I was on my first coastal road trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco. The goal: to discover as many undiscovered and unknown places I could in one week.

Silverado Vineyards is located east of Yountville, California in the Stags Leap District of Napa Valley. I learned that the owners, Ron and Diane Miller,  purchased the land with existing vineyards in the mid-1970s after a long time romance with the Napa. Although the Ron & Diane’s original intentions were to only grow grapes, it wasn’t long before they began construction of their own winery. Since then, the winery has acquired a total of seven family owned vineyards located in various districts throughout the Valley. Silverado produces Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Inspired by single, blissful breezy Saturday afternoon, we created a collection to honor summer coastal road trips and yet to be discovered intimate wine vineyards.

You can view and purchase the Summer Silver Collection here.

A Girl Needs Pink

June 4th, 2009 § 2

As young girls, we loved pink.

We wanted to be princesses in pink dresses; we wanted to fly on pink Unicorns.

Pink signified playfulness and spunk.

In our teens, pink always made us feel pretty.  Pink was even a little prissy.

As we travel into our 20s, 30s and 40s, pinks represents passion, promise and power.

So go ahead and treat yourself, every girl, every woman needs pink.

April 17th, 2009 § 1

It’s spring and we need color!

Our toes crave pedicures so they can be set on display in sandals, our skin craves vibrant floral smells to lift our mood while at work and our wrists crave bright shiny metal objects that bling and jingle.

Keeping Your Love (Knot) Down

March 9th, 2009 § 0

In the past few months,  I’ve noticed the re-emergence of a vintage jewelry trend that I love – the Love Knot Earring.

In January, Bust Magazine featured the 1928 Jewelry’s, Antiquities Couture Love Knot Earrings in an article on Joan Holloway & 1950’s Style. On Valentine’s Day, I saw “Confessions of A Shopaholic,” did anyone else that saw this film notice that leading ladies over the age of 35 were wearing petite love knot earring studs? Even this morning, I noticed an article in USA Today about “Retailers Widening Options, including More Modest Clothing.

So I can safely say, that the classic Love Knot is back. They are vintage-inspired (yet modern), elegant, classy and modest. The Antiquities Love Knot earrings are nickel-free, made in the US and only $28.00. Now how is that for frugal, fashionably glam?

Where Am I?
