Fab Find Friday: Vintage Red Carpet For Less

When Jennifer Hudson rocked a tangerine Atelier Versace halter dress on Oscar night back in February, she paired it with a collection of vintage-inspired diamond jewelry to die for.  It reminded me that prom and wedding seasons were fast approaching, and that high school girls and brides aspire the glamorous red carpet looks seen on the glossy pages of the latest fashion mags.

xFab Find Friday: Vintage Red Carpet For Less

As any glamour girl knows, an eye-catching pair of earrings or bracelet will make any pretty dress pop.  In fact, Jennifer’s diamond bracelets and drop earrings would have gone perfectly with my prom dress.  I still have it hanging in my closet: an icy aqua blue satin gown which I chose because I go weak in the knees for anything blue, soft, and feminine.

Fast forwarding to today, I’ve assembled two fabulous statement pieces worthy of Jennifer’s Oscar look that I would have totally rocked: our Marcasite Heirloom Style Bracelet, and our Vintage Drop Spoon Handle Earrings.

2028 Sheva Turquoise and Crystal Summer Cool

I’m sure you’ve seen our gorgeous 2028 Sheva Collection featured on our homepage. When I first saw the turquoise and crystal ensemble, my jaw hit the floor.  I was so excited, as I always am when seeing brand-new 1928 jewelry.  Especially that clasp bracelet.  Let me tell you, I love a gorgeous clasp bracelet!  Although this particular line is inspired by the French Sun King Louis XIV and the Palace of Versailles, as with all 1928 pieces, you needn’t limit yourself to formal occasions.  As I’ve known since buying my first 1928 piece way back in 1988, the 1928 brand is everyday chic.

Summer is just around the corner, and no color says summer more than turquoise blue. It’s oh-so reminiscent of the fresh ocean breeze and the resort mode that we all want in on.  This turquoise cabachon glass and crystal line is sure to add a bit of sparkle to your knit tops, skirts, and pumps, and inspire longings for balmy days, white sand beaches, and crystal blue water.

x2028 Sheva Turquoise and Crystal Summer Cool

There are eleven items in the 2028 Sheva Turquoise and Crystal line, all made from quality materials and at an affordable price; my pocketbook says thank you.  Four styles of necklace, from casual to more dressy.  Two bracelet styles: clasp and stretch.  I love stretch bracelets almost as much as I love clasp!  Five styles of earrings, from the chandeliers pictured above to the daintiest little buttons on French wire.  Your biggest dilemma will be choosing from among them. Click on the Polyvore set above to see the three styles or check out the new collections here!

Coachella Music Festival Fashion

If any of you had the chance to go to Coachella kick-off (part I) this past weekend, I’m sure you had your eye on the attention-grabbing wardrobe choices made by the fashionable crowd including Diane Kruger, Emma Watson, Kate Bosworth and nearly everyone else at the festival! When you merge music and fashion together, plus the California desert sun and fun poolside shindigs, you immediately go into vacation mode and the result is an artsy, free and fashionable crowd. Gladiator sandals, ankle booties, short shorts, rompers, heavy jewelry stacking and layering, and statement pieces—we approve!

Charity Talk: The Princess Project

In this season of brilliant jewels and drop-dead-gorgeous evening wear, I wanted to shine the light on a charity that is close to my heart. If you recall on Friday’s fab find prom jewelry post, we featured Emma Watson wearing a short cocktail dress and the perfect jewelry sets for the night!

Looking back, prom was such a stepping stone in my life. I, thankfully, went with a best friend who made the night magical with his corny jokes and boyish laughter. Endearing and charming, he made me feel comfortable in my own skin and absolutely beautiful.

Prom signifies the beauty and essence of youth—the cusp of adulthood, the transformation of a girl becoming a woman, which is both an exciting yet scary thought.

It’s also the time when mother and daughter relationships are strengthened, sometimes even formed, and fathers appear to be more protective of their daughters. Though it may seem as just another dance in high school, to many young girls out there, it is an important time in their lives.

Hence, in the midst of these hard times, I find it valuable to give that much more.

The Princess Project provides FREE prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who can’t otherwise afford them. It started with ONE girl who needed ONE dress for prom and, with the help of family and friends, she found the perfect one.

How beautiful is that! The Princess Project is fun, fashionable, and (best of all) FREE!
