Fab Find Friday: Vanessa Hudgens Does Boho Best!

No matter the season, no matter the weather- if there is one style that never seems to go out of style its boho chic! Sure it has seen its more popular seasons and trending pieces have had their moment in the spotlight, but taking on a laid-back, casual yet refined bohemian look will never lead you astray. Think of it as being perfectly undone; effortlessly styled; predictable yet unexpected; retro and fashion forward all at the same time- boho chic is one big contradiction and that is what makes it last from season to season.

It should come as no surprise that boho-chic’s reigning queen is Nicole Richie. From the moment she first came into her reality TV spotlight to now having a clothing line and accessories collection of her own, her style has retained its effortlessly chic spirit that so many of us have coveted and copied. If anyone is proof that you can still be totally trendy with a look that has been around for years, it’s Ms. Richie.

And while Nicole may be the boho-queen, the princess and strong competitor for best bohemian look is definitely Vanessa Hudgens! Graduating from her sweet Disney star persona, this young Hollywood hipster constantly rocks a look that sits somewhere between edgy and relaxed. And while her outfit may not always make our best dressed list (although a good 80% of the time it does), she sure does stick to her own personal style, unaffected by high-end labels and must-have seasonal trends. Vanessa is a bold, daring and fearless fashionista with a strong bohemian spirit.

Even with her unexpected short hair cut (which we love!) Vanessa still manages to channel her inner flower-child spirit in this maxi dress from T-bags that she wore to the premiere of Iris, the new Cirque du Soleil show in Hollywood. The scalloped print is a nice way to switch it up from an animal print while still staying funky. And to accentuate the plunging neckline on the dress, Vanessa wore a large round medallion pendant which we think is quite chic in the silver!

You can rock Hudgens’ style with our Ariel’s Treasure Turquoise Drop Round Locket that has the same length and pendant size as the necklace she is wearing. The unique pocket watch style opening to the locket almost gives it a retro vibe, so for all of you bohemian queens, this can be your perfect accessory to jump into the world of retro which will be big this upcoming season. Have a fabulous Friday!

Fab Find Friday: The Emmy’s Red Carpet Looks for Less

Seasonal trends don’t only come and go in our closets and in the stores. In fact, one of the best places to look for trends is the red carpet! Granted, you don’t wear a silk gown every day nor do you get glamorous as all get out, but red carpet fashion greatly dictates the colors, materials, textures, silhouettes, necklines, and more than you will be investing in for the season. For instance, in Annie’s Emmy’s fashion brief post on Tuesday, she pointed out all of the fabulous red gowns which should hint to us that red is the color to be in this season, even in something as casual as a cardigan!

Last awards show season we were left under-whelmed and bored with celebrity jewelry choices on the red carpet. Or should we say, lack of jewelry choices, because there was hardly any bling to fawn over. The minimal trend had spilled over from clothing to accessories and it showed on the red carpet. Well after the Emmy’s this past weekend, we are pleased to see that that phase has passed! Celebrities took advantage of the ultra-glamorous red carpet setting to show off some stunning necklaces, unique earrings and bold bracelets. In fact, not one style of jewelry went unnoticed! With all of those baubles you know we have some fabulous finds to get A-list looks for less!

The hostess with the most-ess Jane Lynch was elegant as can be in a custom David Meister evening gown in a deep eggplant purple. Purple is really Jane’s color! While I would have preferred a necklace to accessorize her sweetheart neckline, her earrings are just gorgeous and you know we love a good stacked bangle look. Jane’s earrings remind us of our Blue Zircon Large Chandelier Earrings that we love for Fall because of the bold color combination!

Another great pair of earrings we saw at the Emmy’s was the pair Rashida Jones was wearing with her dusty pink Alberta Ferretti tulle gown. Instead of taking the easy route with silver or diamond earrings, the actress added a pop of emerald green color to her ensemble. She was vintage Hollywood glamour from head to toe! For the same colors and silhouette as Rashida’s earrings, check out our Dionysis Beaded Jewels Blue and Emerald Chandelier Earrings that are versatile as can be and will only set you back $16 dollars!

But not all stars went for pop colors, in fact some celebrities, like Kelly Osbourne kept things monochrome for a powerful statement style. Kelly O looked darling in a dark purple mermaid gown by J. Mendel that fit her like a glove! A purple clutch, lighter purple earrings and light as can be hair that almost reflects a lilac hue, we think she made monochrome far from boring. We like 1928’s Deep Amethyst Teardrop Dangle Earrings for a purple pair like Kelly’s.

All eyes were on the beautiful Jennifer Carpenter who never fails to impress at the Emmy’s. Jennifer showed off her fab legs in a Tony Ward silver sequined dress with a thigh-high slit. This bombshell look doesn’t need much jewelry to distract or clutter, so she went with a  sleek pair of diamond dangle earrings, although we wish she took advantage of all of the silver metallic pieces we are seeing at the moment. Add a modern, flirty touch to any outfit of yours with our Stardust Silver Drops Long Dangle Earrings.

For being only 20 years old, Sarah Hyland pulled off a custom made Christian Siriano gown with grace! We love the coral pink color on her and think the silver accents make it youthful and totally trendy! I have always been a fan of cuff style bracelets being worn higher up on your forearm and this style was the perfect jewelry choice for Sarah’s dress. Get our Art Deco Crystal Floral Motif Bracelet to rock the same look.

Sarah Hyland 67165Fab Find Friday: The Emmys Red Carpet Looks for LessCustom gowns seemed to be all the rage this year at the Emmy’s. Another starlet who played princess for the night was Lea Michele who was one of the many, many celebrities to match the red carpet. Her draped back Marchesa gown with adorable rose shoulders was as perfect a shade of red as ever and she made the right choice not to distract from that one-of-a-kind dress by keeping her accessories to a minimum. One large cocktail ring and Lea was blowing kisses all night! Need a silver and black ring to wear with your red this fall? 1928 has just the style you’re looking for on our Silver & Black Western Floral Ring.

Lea Michele 74225Fab Find Friday: The Emmys Red Carpet Looks for LessWhile Lea looked sweet in her red dress, it was Nina Dobrev who brought the va-va-voom for a show-stopping moment on the red carpet. Her flawless look was by far my favorite of the evening, and for a lesser known celeb, we’re sure that will be changing real fast! In a Donna Karan Resort 2012 gown and Neil Lane Diamond jewelry, you can get Nina’s jewelry look for much less! Our best selling Bridal Art Deco Revival Eternity Necklace is a timeless investment piece we all could use to spoil ourselves with. And its still got a much more fab price tag than that Neil Lane necklace on Nina!

Second to red, the other color of the evening seemed to be electric blue! Diana Agron showed up in an unexpected but perfectly polished look wearing a draped Roksanda Illincic gown and Fred Leighton jewelry. Her earrings are almost an exact match to our De Luca Gold Mighty Shield Earrings which we’ve blogged about on many occasions already. That being said, why haven’t you picked up your own pair yet!?

Another babe in blue was Claire Danes who wore a sequined Oscar de la Renta blue patchwork dress from the 2012 Resort collection. Again with perfect styling choices, the busy dress needed nothing more than a bold pair of black earrings. Get Ms. Danes’ look with the Montana Blue Teardrop Window Filigree Earrings. The dark blue color of the stone and jet black base make them easy to match with a lot!

63rd Emmys Fashion Brief on the Red Carpet!

If you missed out on the 63rd Emmy Awards this past Sunday, there were a lot of hot looks on red carpet that were right on trend with fall fashion. One color that kept popping up and I couldn’t help but notice was RED. On a previous post, Kit gave us a rundown of the fall trend report and red was part of the look that was a must for the closet this fall. It’s a great way to burst out of our neutral habits and see the world with rose-colored lens icon wink63rd Emmys Fashion Brief on the Red Carpet!

Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries), Lea Michele (Glee), Kate Winslet (Mildred Pierce)

Red standouts of the night included Nina Dobrev from Vampire Diaries who wore a stunning, body-hugging Donna Karan gown that was both artful and elegant, with a Neil Lane collar necklace; Lea Michele from Glee wore a floor-length Marchesa dress with a draped back and fluffed shoulders; and “lead actress winner” Kate Winslet wore a simple, but elegant Elie Saab dress decked with a sparkling bracelet. Speaking of bracelets, stacked bracelets was another trend on the red carpet and was spotted on Rashida Jones, Jane Lynch and Kristen Wiig. Instead of going for a simple strand, these stars decided to give some edge to their elegant ensemble by stacking jewels on their arms (a nice tip to follow when you want to tone down a girly look at a formal affair icon smile63rd Emmys Fashion Brief on the Red Carpet! ).

Fab Find Friday: Julia Stiles & Metal Accents

In all of the hustle and bustle of NYFW, we can’t forget the fashionistas stepping out on the west coast either! Fashion week is over and we will be blogging about Spring 2012 trends, favorite collections, and what to expect as far as colors and jewelry go, but that will come next week. And with the Emmy awards around the corner (tune in on Sunday September 18th!) we can expect to see many of those gowns that came down the fashion week runways on the red carpet!

I’ve discussed adding metal hardware accents to your outfits before on numerous posts (here, here & here). Whether you are holding onto minimal looks in neutral tones for one more season, or if you are channeling a retro color-blocking vibe with bold color combinations, metal accents are an easy way to update and streamline your look to be on trend this fall. If we had to narrow this concept down to three words think metallic, sleek and bold!

Occasionally I shop high-end sites just to see what designers have come up with and ooh-and-aah at their work. In flipping through all of the luxury jewelry for Fall 2011 I found plenty of long golden dangle earrings that would serve as the perfect metal accents to any outfit. But for those prices, no thanks! Take a look here at designer earrings and see if our fab finds below don’t match up!

Luxury designer earrings clockwork from top left: Ten Thousand Things, Oscar de la Renta, Herve Van Der Straeten, Mawi, Ten Thousan Things, & Kara Ross- none of which are priced under $500!

Before we dive into the jewelry fab finds we see at the Emmy’s next week, let’s take a peek at a knockout look we caught at the Creative Arts Emmy’s held this past weekend in Los Angeles. A favorite look of mine was definitely Julia Stiles who showed up to the awards show in a body hugging, capped sleeve white number looking fantastic! The actress, who was there for her nomination for outstanding guest actress in a drama series for her role on Dexter, knew just how to style her look for the evening.

Because the dress falls into the minimal style (in fact, it is probably from a spring 2011 collection), with the delicate cut-outs and monochrome fabric, she added some fierce metal hardware jewelry to make it more modern and more now! Her long metallic earrings and cuff stand out beautifully against the stark white. After seeing the Spring 2012 shows at fashion week, we can see that all-white is here to stay so to get Julia’s look for this season or the next, check out these three new styles from our vintage estate jewelry inspired De Luca collection. Told you we would have styles to fit your fashion cravings and your budget! Have a fabulous Friday!

Fab Find Friday: Scarlett Johansson Goes Retro

Fall is looking more and more retro as the minutes go by and even in the middle of this late summer heat we simply cannot wait! Banana Republic has already been incredibly successful with their Mad Men collection, J. Crew’s lookbook is filled with pastel basics and cheeky styling, polka dots are lining the catwalks, menswear for women is bringing back “Annie Hall” style and one of the biggest color combos of the season is black and white. Not to mention the huge rise in popularity of cat eye sunglasses and eyeliner and the hottest editorial look for hair is teased up and sprayed just like it was in the 60’s.

So it turns out that the latest and greatest in fashion is really all about reinterpreting stylish looks from the past and adding a modern splash of color or edge. Everything comes full circle to start the fashion cycle once again right where it originally began. So even though two days ago I blogged about those items you should Buy, Keep and Store, the key word in that is to store, not throw away completely. You never know when you’ll want those gaucho pants again (although, that is one trend I wouldn’t be too sad about bidding adieu to forever!).

Classic beauty Scarlett Johansson proved just how modern “retro” can be this past week at a Moët & Chandon celebration wearing a polka dotted bottle green Marc Jacobs dress from his A/W collection. The retro aspects: the polka dots, the subtle color contrast, the big teased curls, the pencil skirt and its tea length hemline. The modern aspects: the flirtatious lace inset, the structured cap sleeves, the glitter of the polka dots and Scarletts subtle but spunky styling!

scar jo champagneFab Find Friday: Scarlett Johansson Goes Retro

Now Scarlett Johansson has run the gamut as far as her fashion choices at red carpets and celebrations such as this one. We’ve seen her with blonde, red, and brunette locks, in dresses that are beautiful, sexy, sometimes too sexy, and sometimes just confusing looks from head to toe. I’m not sure if she has a stylist, but based on her red carpet history, we’re going to assume the answer to that is no.

However, I find this to be one of Scarlett’s better looks. Simple and sophisticated, you can still see she is having fun with fashion which is really the whole point! The bottle green dress (which is going to be a huge color this upcoming season) works perfect with her bright pink lips and dainty purple jewelry. Now normally this many jewel tones in one look would be loud and over the top, but her choice of accessories is so minimal and elegant, you almost barely notice her jewels are jewel toned!

If you want some subtle yet colorful pieces like this to mix with your bottle green, marigold and red hues this fall, we definitely recommend 1928’s L’aura Pourpre Triple Strand Toggle Bracelet with rich violet and amethyst hued beads on a trio of chains. And if you need a pop of color on your ears, we love our Morado Amor Elongated Teardrop Earrings that have seriously unique quartz like stones.
