Jen & I  have been enjoying our holidays. We have actually managed to organize an clean our Delicious bookmarks. The Jewelry Gal blog content for 2008 is going to tickle you silly – yea, that’s what we said, tickle you silly. It’s gonna feel so good! Anyway, if you independent fashion divas don’t know about Daily Candy, then there’s something seriously wrong with your Google Reader! Daily Candy covers most major cities these days (we remember when they were LA centric – back in the day) and subscribing to their newsletters keeps you up on what’s hip now.

Last week, Daily Candy opened up voting for The Sweetest Things 2008. Ladies – and trendy gents – it’s time to vote. Show your support for you most favorite boutiques, eateries and stylish home finds in your city.

Our Picks for Everywhere:

1. Style – Jen Gotch & Jamie Coulter of Shop Ban.Do

2.  Bite – Mari Tuttle of Mari’s Brownies

3. Home – Melanie Carson of LushPad.com

4.  Advice – The Longmeadows Animal Rescue

Los Angeles Picks – Of course we have opinions as we REPRESENT in LA:

1. Emily Current & Merritt Elliot of Current Elliot – These girls know how to design gorgeous, irresistible clothes that will make you give up Urban Outfitters forever.

2. Bite – Gjelina in Venice. Sorry, it was a no brainer compared to tacos and a meat eater’s mecca.

3. Nest - We firmly believe the Women need Wine. So, we voted for Venokado in West Hollywood.

4. Pamper – No question, it was Queen Bee. Ladies, waxing almost painless? Yeah, it exists.

Local Los Angeles

We love living in Los Angeles. Despite the traffic, precarious location of Downtown LA and earthquakes; we wouldn’t give up our sunshine, weekends at the beach or 85 degree winters for anything. And if you live in LA, you know Daily Candy is a read. Yeah, they go to like almost every city these days, but they started in LA. This week brought some killer finds and we just had to share with you.

The first is the a vintage store called Thank You Mart. Okay, okay – guess what – everything at Thank You Mart is $3.99 or UNDER. That’s right, nothing over $4 bucks. So give up the Starbucks/Peets/Coffee Bean for the day and get some vintage swag and last minute holiday gifts. They can be found on MySpace also.

The second is the opening of the Stories LA. An an era of Borders and Barns & Noble. There are very few independent book stores left, let alone opening. Located in Echo Park, Stories carries new and used books. Mad props to the every eco-conscious, trendsetting Echo Park residents for keeping some old Hollywood alive in LA. They also have coffee – good coffee.

Lastly, there’s a new kid on the block in LA populous of restaurants and eateries. Kogi Korean BBQ jumped onto my radar when they provided the food for the Girls in Tech launch event that 1928 sponsored.  The food is amazing and it’s mobile? Check ‘em out to find where they are at. You can also Twitter-stalk them at KogiBBQ.
