Fab Find Friday: SAG Awards Style

Another awards show, another red carpet rundown of all of the fabulous fashion and jewelry! The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place this past Sunday at the Shrine Auditorium in Hollywood with a very prestigious and stylish guest list. Some of Hollywood’s biggest names attended the SAG Awards as nominees and presenters and gave us yet another wonderful fashion show on the red carpet. From modern, sexy look like Lea Michele’s Versace number to more colorful and couture gowns like Julie Bowen’s dress from Temperley London the stars were looking very chic!

As one of the more formal awards shows of the season, we weren’t surprised at all that some of the celebrities in attendance channeled one of the biggest trends of the moment- old Hollywood glamour! Even in their fresh off the runway dresses, the trending look was definitely more retro inspired than anything else. And since 1928 Jewelry is a vintage inspired jewelry company, we found plenty of pieces the celebs wore that match styles we have. Let’s take a look at all the fashion and the fab finds so you can get the same great style for a much more reasonable price!

The lady in red of the evening was none other than the lovely Michelle Williams who wore a red Valentino gown with asymmetrical hemline and lace sleeves. We think this shade of red looks ravishing on the classic beauty! Her chunky Fred Leighton gold chain bracelet was a perfect modern touch to the sweet dress. Another celeb who chose the perfect color to wear was Ms. Kelly Osbourne! As one of the hosts of E!’s Fashion Police, Kelly made sure to impress in a white Badgley Mischka gown that showed off her ever slimming figure. Everything from her makeup to adorable hairdo was a great choice for the SAG Awards. To mix it up a little and add that typical Osbourne edge, Kelly wore bronze drop earrings that look very similar to our Bronze Lantern Double Beaded Earrings. Metallic earrings can match with any evening wear look, even if the color is not a perfect match, so these are a great style to pick up for only $16.

From white to black, Angelina Jolie once again wore her preferred red carpet color and looked amazing! In a sheen black draped gown by one of her favorite designers, Jenny Packham, Angelina kept her dress minimal and accessorized with big, bold vintage House of Lavande earrings. Another actress to dazzle us in black was Emma Stone- and let’s face it, when does this girl NOT make our best dressed list? This time around, Emma looked picture perfect in a head-to-toe Alexander McQueen ensemble including a black lace tea length dress, adorable matching shoes and a signature AMQ knuckle duster clutch. Her look is so perfectly on trend and fits her age and personal style perfectly- retro glamour with a bit of edge. Emma wore gold & diamond earrings by Paloma Picasso for Tiffany & Co. earrings, but we have a similar pair that won’t cost you a fortune. Emma wasn’t the only actress from The Help (which swept at the SAG Awards!) to make a fashion splash. Jessica Chastain looked stunning in her custom Calvin Klein Collection dress in a rich royal blue. We always love a good, minimalist CK gown, but the vivid blue color really makes a difference! Jessica accessorized with sapphire earrings from none other than jewelry designer extraordinaire, Harry Winston. Well we may not use real sapphires, but our Sapphire and Silver Tone Square Drop Earrings are almost an identical match!

The Help‘s Octavia Spencer chose to wear the same designer that brought her luck at the Golden Globes. Her Tadashi Shoji grey embellished gown was incredibly flattering and once again, Octavia took home the award for Best Supporting Actress. Looks like Tadashi Shoji just might be her lucky charm! We also love her choice of earrings; they match just perfectly with the floral beading on her gown! 1928′s Mademoiselle Sparkle Amethyst Vine Earrings have a similar silhouette and color palette and are a great choice for evening wear.

Berenice Bejo came dressed to impress in a beaded Ralph Lauren Collection champagne gown. Nominated alongside Octavia Spencer, the actress from silent film The Artist added a pop of color to her ensemble with an amethyst pendant by Chopard. Also wearing some purple jewels was the always divine looking Sofia Vergara. Sofia chose purple Lorraine Schwartz jewels as a complementary jewel tone to her raspberry curve hugging gown- a custom design by Marchesa. Not one to necessarily surprise us on the red carpet, we have to say Sofia sticks to her personal style and always manages to look like a dream.

Glee‘s Dianna Agron looked lovely in her fuchsia pink Carolina Herrera gown. The starlet wasn’t quite as daring as Ms. Vergara was with her pink dress and opted for simple silver and diamond jewels by Fred Leighton. We love what Dianna did with her hair! The shabby chic fishtail braid adds a youthful edge to the elegant ensemble that only she would be able to get away with. Even her delicate bracelet and drop earrings fit the overall look just perfectly. Fab Find Friday: Kruger Visits Chanel Couture

With all of the red carpet hustle and bustle of awards show season, it is easy to forget that there are some other very star-studded fashion events currently going on. Haute Couture Fashion Week took place this past week in Paris, France hosting some outrageously divine couture collections from designer names like Atelier Versace, Jean Paul Gaultier, Iris Van Herpen and Armani Privé to name a few. But the show that has everyone talking, as it always does, was the Chanel Spring 2012 Haute Couture collection. Never one to disappoint, Karl Lagerfeld is known for making all of his collection debuts more than just a runway show- each collection of his comes with a full blown theme and grand ceremony to paint a complete picture of the designer’s vision.

For this Haute Couture season, Lagerfeld was inspired by air travel and stewardess uniforms, so naturally he transformed the Grand Palais in Paris into the interior of an airplane, with models walking down the aisles. If you aren’t too familiar with Couture Fashion Week, these collections are created as inspirations, not literal ready-to-wear clothing. The more outrageous and avant-garde, the better! These collections are created for the sake of fashion, not for the sake of every day style, unless maybe you were Lady Gaga. But some of these Chanel Haute Couture 2012 looks are actually pretty divine and definitely wearable! Check out some of our favorites here!

And the chic Chanel fashion didn’t stop there. Some of Karl’s favorite muses attended the show with the best seats in the house- the front row! Celebrities like Cameron Diaz, Vanessa Paradis, and Elizabeth Olsen were there to show support of the label that often dresses them for red carpets and other stylish soirees. Another star at the show is a well known Lagerfeld favorite, Diane Kruger. The German model turned actress always follows the fashion manner code by wearing a design of the label she is there to see. Just last year at the same Couture showing, Diane wore an elegant vintage Chanel embellished white gown that channeled old Hollywood glamour to a T. Picking up on the bronze accents along the bust and inside of the draped skirt, Diane wore a pair of chandelier earrings, very reminiscent of our Brass Tone Chandelier Earrings.

This year, however, Diane Kruger went for a look that felt a bit more on par with the Haute Couture collection that was presented. Her bell-shaped tweed dress from the pre-Fall 2012 collection was a bit more edgy than the gown she wore previously, and is very typically Chanel. Something about the big pearl buttons, sexy over-the-knee boots and chain strap Chanel bag makes for one seriously chic outfit.

And instead of opting for matching pearl earrings or none at all considering that high collar, Diane wore a pair of silver feather drop earrings to bring out yet another element. Fab Find Friday: All That Glitters at the Golden Globes

It’s time for the Golden Globes red carpet recap! We took a look at the fashion this past Wednesday, noticing the color trend of the moment with all of the lovely ladies of Hollywood showing up in beautiful blush gowns! You would think with such a soft, neutral color there would be more accessorizing! But for the most part, these champagne clad celebrities let their dresses do the talking and kept the jewels either minimal or opted for classic diamonds. So here’s our rundown of our favorite part of red carpet fashion: the jewelry!

From Chopard to Fred Leighton, these stylish celebs pulled out all the stops when it came to high-fashion glamour! And luckily enough for them, they don’t all have to purchase their bling. But if you want the same Hollywood style for your next formal evening out, you don’t have to spend more than you do on your dress! We found all of our styles that matched the stars on the Golden Globes red carpet and have them all right here for you. How fab!

Let’s begin with one of our consistent style stars, Emma Stone. The class-act red carpet dresser attended the Globes in a custom two-tone Lanvin gown that was every bit as fresh and fashionable as we would expect from Emma. Something about the gown’s capped sleeves and that heavy eagle belt make it so unique, we just can’t get enough! Emma wore matching deep red Lorraine Schwartz stud earrings. For the same shape and shade, try out 1928’s Red Cranberry Marquise Cut Jewel Earrings set in a dark hematite tone finish.

Emma’s co-star from the movie The Help, Jessica Chastain channeled vintage chic for her ensemble. Jessica wore a Givenchy Haute Couture number accented in pearls from the high collar down to the floor. Another favorite look from the red carpet fashion show this past Sunday was Lea Michele! Wearing a silver embellished Marchesa cutout gown, Lea didn’t necessarily fill out the dress as well as some more mature ladies could have, but she still managed to look super high-fashion! Ever since Angelina Jolie wore emerald earrings during last year’s awards season, everyone wants in on a pop of green! This year at the Globes, Julianna Margulies went for the same look with a lighter jade green. Elle Bracelets Fab FindFab Find Friday: All That Glitters at the Golden Globes

Bringing some of the color of 2012 to the table was Elle Macpherson who stacked some serious bracelets in a tangerine tango and bright pink color palette. The supermodel wore a very interesting Zac Posen gown that has people confused on whether they like it or not. Well all dress arguments aside, we think her bold bangles are banging! We love the bright blend of colors and crystals. We’ve paired together some 1928 bracelets to create a stack just like Elle’s! Wear them all or pick and choose your favorites!

Going for an all classic look, Mila Kunis donned an elegant black Dior gown and Cartier earrings. Simple, yes, but also very sultry! Dress up your own little black dress like Mila with our Vintage Swarovski Crystal Tassel Drop Earrings! They may not be Cartier, but they sure are affordable!

We showed you Kristen Wiig’s nude Bill Blass gown in our post on Wednesday, but we have to revisit this look! Kristen looks divine in a minimalist dress like this and knew just how to make it fit her personal style. The comedian didn’t give that plunging neckline a chance to look overtly sexy; instead she made that low cut the perfect canvas to show off her stunning Fred Leighton necklace. You know that at 1928 we love ourselves a good dose of retro glamour, and that is exactly what Nicole Richie delivered! The socialite turned style icon wore a liquid silver Julien Macdonald dress that looked extra fab with the 60’s style bouffant she wore in her hair. And as soon as we saw Nicole’s earrings, we were reminded of our Jardine Dangle Medallion Earrings. Although cast in a darker metal and sans pearls, we love this vintage chandelier silhouette that makes any look a bit more sophisticated.

And last, but certainly not least, is the star who wore a 144.96 carat yellow diamond statement necklace! Freida Pinto was dressed to impress in a simple yet elegant blue Prada ball gown and outrageous Chopard necklace. We love a good statement necklace, and while this one is a knockout, we can’t ever realistically even imagine wearing it! But just because its lacking the carats doesn’t mean you still can’t wear a wow factor. Freida’s Prada dress, or any strapless gown for that matter, would look dazzling with a statement piece like our Mixed Metal Gold Chain Bib Necklace.

Fab Find Friday: Emma Stone’s Best Fashion Moments

2011 was a good year for fresh faces in fashion. The best dressed of the year were not the typical style icons we see time and time again such as Anne Hathaway and Halle Berry. Instead we saw up and coming stars who proved they were a fashion force to be reckoned with. One of those stars who wowed us time and time again, was Emma Stone. Not only did this young actress consistently look fabulous on and off the red carpet, she always managed to step out in something new and exciting. Her style was unpredictable which always made it exciting to see what she would come up with next. From her blonde hair and minimal peach Calvin Klein moment to the picture perfect pink and red Giambattista Valli number, Ms. Stone definitely made her first year on the red carpet a winning one.

Awards season is officially kicking off! Just this week, we have seen stars at the People’s Choice Awards and Critic’s Choice Awards all leading up to the Golden Globes this upcoming Sunday, so needless to say there will be plenty of red carpet recaps coming up! But before we get into the thick of Awards Show season, let’s take a look at how well Emma Stone has already started off this red carpet rally!

We’ve only seen two awards shows and it already seems as though green is the new red! Joining Nina Dobrev and Chloe Moretz in bright green numbers, Emma Stone wore two different emerald ensembles to the Critic’s and People’s choice awards shows this past week. As it is a natural accent to her red locks, Emma looked chic as could be at the People’s Choice Awards in a Gucci tux with fierce accents from head to toe! Later in the week at the Critic’s Choice Awards, Emma opted for a softer Jason Wu pre-fall green and blue print gown with her hair worn loosely up. Each of these looks are so different and yet totally Emma and we like that she kept with the green theme.

But Emma Stone’s true standout moment of the week had to be her cream colored J Mendel dress she wore to attend the National Board of Review in New York City. To fight the wintry NYC air, Emma showed up to the event in a classy Michael Kors coat that matched her dress exactly. With the sparkling accents on the front of the dress, golden Christian Louboutin pumps and dark red lips, Emma proved to us once again why she is constantly on the best dressed list!

And while she kept her accessories to a minimum, we’re still guessing she dropped a pretty penny on her Jack Vartanian jewelry. Fab Find Friday: Little Miss Elle Fanning

There were quite a few occasions in 2011 that we blogged about our obsession with little miss Elle Fanning (see here, here, & here for a few highlights). The young starlet is only 13 years old and has somehow managed to be a style icon to women well into their 30’s. Not to mention her acting talent, Elle has now modeled for Marc Jacobs, is a muse to Rodarte and Miu Miu designers, and has even been referred to by her older sister, Dakota, as the style authority of the family. She definitely made our best dressed list of 2011 and even just one week into the New Year, we think Elle will have an equally fashionable, fabulous 2012!

While Elle Fanning’s style both on and off the red carpet not only impresses me but inspires my personal style choices, I still think her most admirable quality is that she always dresses appropriately for her age. In high fashion, it is easy to get swept up in the low cut couturier gowns, sexy mini cocktail dresses and heavy makeup, especially when being compared to adult women. But Elle is consistently sweet, sophisticated and so stylish.

Elle’s most recent fashion feature is on the February cover of Teen Vogue in a very Valentines themed spread! Even in her interview for the mag, Elle says, “I’d much rather look like a two-year old than a 21-year old!” Well, we’ll tell you this, girl, you do not look like a toddler! In fact, styled in looks from Carven, Christopher Kane, Valentino, Oscar de la Renta, and Prada, Elle Fanning looks like the modern day dream of a young princess!

Since this shoot is so fabulous, you know we caught a fab find in there! While styled in mostly red, pink and neutrals the one other pop of color was blue, to match Elle’s piercing gaze. The Jane Tran hairpin she is wearing is adorable with Fanning’s eyes, and we have a hair pin just like it! 1928’s Blue Zircon Bloom Bar Metal Hair Barrette will give any blonde-haired blue eyed jewelry gal the same sweet style as Elle! Even without the same features, the blue zircon stones look fab!
