Fab Find Friday: Celebrity Boho Style for Less!

If you’re a fan of 1928.com, you’ve seen that we just LOVE bracelets that you can mix and match and stack as high as you’d like. Our designers have paid close attention to how bracelets have been trending and how stars wear not one, not two, but three or more bracelets on the same wrist. It’s a simple concept and a look that is easy to achieve. Remember tying multiple friendship bracelets on your wrist as a child? Or what about pairing necklaces that fall at different lengths to create an overall statement look? It’s just the same with bracelets!

Personally, I am a bracelet fanatic. If I don’t have at least three on my left wrist, I feel as thought I left the house without something and it bothers me all day. I find bracelets more comfortable to wear than other jewelry pieces and easy to match with anything- actually I think it’s the fact that they don’t have to match with the rest of your outfit at all and it still goes! I love the look of a watch with thin wrap bracelets surrounding it. It makes your everyday watch a little less boring. And now that the weather is warming and our sleeves are getting shorter, it is the perfect accessory to throw on any time, any day.

bangle01Fab Find Friday: Celebrity Boho Style for Less! With the 70’s inspired look coming back, and boho being bigger than ever, I think its time to really experiment with your bracelets and bangles like the celebs do. From young to old, women are rocking the stacked bracelet look in their own way. Jennifer Anniston, Miley Cyrus, Drew Barrymore and others are decorating their wrists and then some with a unique array of bangles and bracelets. The best part is, no one will have the same combo as you! And you can get as creative as you want when it comes to mixing and matching.

1928 JUST posted six brand new bracelet sets that will help you accomplish this look. Our Spring Bracelet collection is light and airy and my favorite part about these bracelets is that they may look like bangles, but they actually stretch, making them easy to slip on and off. Then there’s our Bollywood Bangles that are just so hot!!!! 1928 employees are already wearing them around the office and we can picture someone like Vanessa Hudgens rocking these unique bracelets. It gives you pieces to play with- maybe just wear two out of the six, or pair them with bracelets you already have! How fab is that?

My Personal Styleboard for Switching Seasons

Since I’ve taken the plunge into the fashion world, it is so hard to know what trends to wear at the very moment. We see fashion shows and presentations about six to nine months before the clothing pieces actually come around and are available for purchase. For instance, with NYFW having just closed and London fashion week just beginning, we are inundated with trends that won’t come around until next fall season! Which can be quite confusing and frustrating!

Both looks above are by designer Michael Kors. Just look at his change in trends from Spring 2011 (left) and Fall 2011 (right). So when do we make the change too?!

My trick in knowing how to blend from what is currently on trend and what to keep an eye out for is taking note of all of the street chic fashion I see surrounding Fashion Week events. By observing what the editors, celebrities, and stylists are wearing to the shows you will have a very clear and set style to base your current look off of. For Spring 2011, we know that accessories take center stage and for Fall 2011 we have seen tremendous 70’s inspiration all across the runways. By taking these two trend tips, I know that I should be filling my closet and jewelry box with bold, bohemian inspired pieces, transitioning from the minimal blush pink tone to a brighter, honeysuckle pink color!

Fashion is fun, not a science. It doesn’t have to be difficult to see how to transition from trend to trend, season to season, but everyone needs their own way of making sense of the fast paced industry! Personally, I keep a personal style board right by my closet with images I collect from editorials, personal style blogs, magazine ads, and online shopping sites. With key trends and styles right there by my closet, it gives me a certain look to try to accomplish. It makes getting dressed more creative and personal. Here are some of the images that are currently on my “style board” that are inspiring me to mix minimal and major!

Cabochon Jewelry!

What’s that smooth, non-faceted stone that has a ladybug-like surface? A cabochon, of course! The term cabochon (ka-boshon) comes from the French term “caboche” which means “head.” So that’s where they get it from–a head of lettuce = a cabbage!

A French ornament, the cabochon was used to embellish furniture in the 18th century and made its way into jewelry.  (I would’ve seen that coming!) Anything older than 50 years is usually considered antique, so any jewelry with  cabochons has an influence of “antique,” which is a style we carry a lot of.

I love the smooth surface that a cabochon delivers. (And I love how the word smoothly rolls off my tongue!) The back of the cut stone is usually flat or hollowed out and encased and made into pendants or embedded on bracelets and other accessories like hair barrettes and rings. Take a look at some of our amazing selections that feature beautiful cabochon stones:
