This Just In: Aurora Borealis & Cranberry Accents

A few weeks ago, Kit gave us rundown of the fall trend report and if you recall, RED was going to be big this season. But for those of you who don’t like things too flashy, not to worry because there are plenty of ways to make it work! One alternative is to just go bold inside and stay muted outside—a popping red blouse inside a charcoal gray blazer. Or you can choose to go a shade darker and go all cranberry red. Our new collection is full of cranberry accents perfect for a romantic night out with just the right amount of vintage appeal. The earrings below are encrusted with lovely red aurora borealis crystals that give out a different tinge of color depending on its angle—which means it also looks great with magenta and purple hues. This season, instead of automatically reaching for the black with red combo, explore different shades of citrus and lavender colors, even if it means going a shade darker with mustard yellow or plum. A spoonful of sugar may help the medicine go down but when you’ve got some spoon handle earrings to accent your outfit with, it can dress you up or down and make you feel great at the same time. 1928 has got some new cute, quirky and very vintage inspired earrings to boast about this week and we think you’ll love them too! Fab Find Friday: Bvlgari Bling

When a new magazine issue hits the stands I think the first thing every woman does when she gets it is look through the advertisements and the fashion spreads. Later we go back to read the articles and break down the trend reports, but the first instinct is to look at all the gorgeous, editorial photos that really draw us in. When I was flipping through my newest Harper’s Bazaar, the Summer fashion issue, I saw an ad that made me do a double take because I totally thought I saw 1928 earrings!

The newest ad campaign for fashion house Bvlgari stars actress Kirsten Dunst and features their new women’s fragrance, Mon Jasmin Noir. Though Dunst looks incredibly photoshopped in the ad, the earrings she has on are have an uncanny resemblance to our Antiquities Couture Rose Gold Garden Party Earrings! There are only two big differences when you compare the earrings in the ad and the earrings we sell.

1. Our Garden Party earrings dangle with the floral feature at the bottom, while Bvlgari’s have the floral design at the post.

At the end of the year, I’m always excited to find out which styles 1928 shoppers love buying. And out of all our jewelry, the pen necklace is the overall winner once again, and it has been for quite a few years now thanks to Mad Men’s lovely Joan Holloway. Keeping Your Love (Knot) Down

In the past few months, I’ve noticed the re-emergence of a vintage jewelry trend that I love – the Love Knot Earring.

In January, Bust Magazine featured the 1928 Jewelry’s, Antiquities Couture Love Knot Earrings in an article on Joan Holloway & 1950′s Style. On Valentine’s Day, I saw “Confessions of A Shopaholic,” did anyone else that saw this film notice that leading ladies over the age of 35 were wearing petite love knot earring studs? Even this morning, I noticed an article in USA Today about “Retailers Widening Options, including More Modest Clothing.”

So I can safely say, that the classic Love Knot is back. They are vintage-inspired (yet modern), elegant, classy and modest. The Antiquities Love Knot earrings are nickel-free, made in the US and only $28.00. Now how is that for frugal, fashionably glam?
